Wednesday 16 November Preparing for Winter
A talk to share tips on how to put your garden to bed for the winter season
We had a very well attended and lively meeting last Wednesday, 16th November, when we shared tips on how to put your garden to bed for the winter season. Chairman Mike Prest demonstrated pruning and protection of chrysanthemums, pelargoniums, and a variety of plants against frost, including plants often treated as annuals. Ivor Fox gave us many useful tips on planting and treatment of bulbs, and very kindly distributed tulip bulbs for us all to grow either in pots or the open ground - but beware if you have a problem with mice!
Ivor has also donated a National Vegetable Society Millenium Plate to be awarded for the best vegetable grown on the new Bilton Hall Drive allotments, and there is sure to be much competition for this next year.
